Can a small engineering business finance a five-axis machining centre?

A high-value machining centre may be considered where the asset and the business’s ability to support the investment are credible.

The practical answer

A high-value machining centre may be considered where the asset and the business’s ability to support the investment are credible.

Explain current capacity, target work, staff skills and realistic utilisation during the ramp-up. Supply a detailed supplier quote including tooling, transport, installation and training.

If the purchase materially increases borrowing, show a forecast that includes existing commitments and delayed production. The machine’s technical capability alone does not establish affordability or guaranteed customer demand.

Important

Commercial finance is subject to status, lender approval and the specific asset and transaction. The right structure depends on the complete circumstances of the business.

What should I do next?

Have the asset details, supplier information and an outline of what the business needs ready. DCF can then discuss the requirement and identify which lenders may be suitable.
