Can I finance trailers separately from tractor units?

A trailer may be assessed as a separate commercial asset rather than having to be funded with a tractor unit.

The practical answer

A trailer may be assessed as a separate commercial asset rather than having to be funded with a tractor unit.

Provide trailer identification, make, type, age, condition, seller and price. Refrigeration, lifting or specialist equipment should be itemised and supported with service information where relevant.

For a group of trailers, prepare an asset schedule with individual values. The lender’s term and valuation may differ from those offered for the tractor units that pull them.

Important

Commercial finance is subject to status, lender approval and the specific asset and transaction. The right structure depends on the complete circumstances of the business.

What should I do next?

Have the asset details, supplier information and an outline of what the business needs ready. DCF can then discuss the requirement and identify which lenders may be suitable.
