Imported machinery & supplier payments

Can equipment be financed before it arrives in the UK?

Potentially, but this is more complex than a standard UK dealer purchase. Payment, title, delivery and acceptance conditions must be agreed with the lender before funds are required.

The practical answer

Potentially, but this is more complex than a standard UK dealer purchase. Payment, title, delivery and acceptance conditions must be agreed with the lender before funds are required.

Set out deposit, build, shipment and acceptance dates and explain where the equipment is held at each stage. Identify ownership and risk before delivery.

Ask precisely which milestones the lender can support. The business may need separate cash for an advance payment even if the finished asset is eligible for finance.

Important

Commercial finance is subject to status, lender approval and the specific asset and transaction. The right structure depends on the complete circumstances of the business.

What should I do next?

Have the asset details, supplier information and an outline of what the business needs ready. DCF can then discuss the requirement and identify which lenders may be suitable.
