New companies & lender requirements

Can I finance an asset before my company has much trading history?

Potentially. Some lenders consider early-stage businesses where the directors have relevant experience and the asset and business plan are credible.

The practical answer

Potentially. Some lenders consider early-stage businesses where the directors have relevant experience and the asset and business plan are credible.

Explain the planned start date, relevant experience, confirmed work and how the company will pay its initial operating costs. Supply a realistic forecast with a slower-start scenario.

A company’s incorporation date is not the same as evidence of trading. Do not commit to supplier payments on the assumption that formation alone makes the business eligible.

Important

Commercial finance is subject to status, lender approval and the specific asset and transaction. The right structure depends on the complete circumstances of the business.

What should I do next?

Have the asset details, supplier information and an outline of what the business needs ready. DCF can then discuss the requirement and identify which lenders may be suitable.
